One of the main goals of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is to educate the nation, and in that spirit, Djuanda University (UNIDA) Bogor was founded by the Indonesian Amaliah Islamic Development Study Center Foundation (PSPIAI) as a form of responsibility to advance the Muslim community through education. Founded on the initiative of Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) H. Alamsjah Ratu Perwiranegara (Alm.) along with his close relatives on June 3, 1983, this foundation stands on waqf land located in Ciawi, Bogor Regency, West Java. Based on the decision of the PSPI Foundation number 083 / PSPI / III / 87, Djuanda University was officially established on March 21, 1987, immortalizing the name of Ir. H. Djoeanda Kartawidjaja—a National Independence Hero from Tasikmalaya who is widely known for his contributions to government—as a form of respect.
