In order to welcome the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (HUT RI), International Real Work Lecture (KKN) students at the Amin Guidance Studio Sungai Besi Indah, Malaysia, held a creative activity to color a picture of the Garuda Bird and a picture of the Red and White Flag. This activity is part of a series of KKN programs which aim to strengthen relations between Indonesian citizens abroad and their homeland. (09/08/2024)
This coloring activity was held involving children who are members of the Sungai Besi Indah Guidance Studio, a studio founded to support the education and development of Indonesia's young generation in Malaysia.
Through this activity, KKN students hope to instill a sense of love for their homeland and national spirit from an early age to Indonesian children who live far from Indonesia.
This activity is also a forum for KKN students to share stories about Indonesia, introduce culture, and explain the meaning of the Garuda Bird and the Red and White Flag to children. Not only focusing on coloring, we also convey to children that this activity is expected to not only introduce important state symbols such as the Garuda Bird and the Red and White Flag, but also foster pride as part of the Indonesian nation. "Even though we are far from Indonesia, the spirit of unity and oneness must remain embedded in the hearts of every child of the nation, and through this simple activity, we hope to be able to bring this spirit to the children of SB Amen on this beautiful Iron River,"
The parents who attended were very supportive of this activity. A mother of one of the children stated, "This activity is very positive because apart from the children being able to play and learn, they are also taught to still love and recognize the identity of their country, even though they are far from Indonesia."
This coloring activity also received a positive response from children. Apart from increasing their knowledge about state symbols, children feel happy to be able to participate in activities that foster a sense of love for Indonesia. A student named [Rayyan], said, "I am happy to be able to color the picture of the Garuda Bird and the picture of the Red and White Flag. It feels like celebrating August 17th in your hometown."
It is hoped that this International KKN activity in Malaysia can be an example for other students to continue to spread the spirit of nationalism and togetherness wherever they are. Welcoming the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, they proved that love for their homeland knows no geographical boundaries.
The Amin Sungai Besi Indah Guidance Studio also appreciates this KKN student initiative and hopes that similar activities can continue to be carried out in the future.
